Derby-based property businesses BB&J Commercial and Boxall Brown & Jones are celebrating after two of their equity partners achieved one of the profession’s highest honours, with Mark Richardson and Chris Birds being appointed as Fellows of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS).
This represents the highest level of RICS membership and is awarded to professionals who have demonstrated exceptional achievement, leadership and significant contributions to the property, land and construction industries.
Mark and Chris have worked together since 2001, and Mark remarked, “Chris and I consider ourselves fortunate to share the same values, and having this in common has definitely helped shape and drive our business forward over the years. The RICS ethos of professionalism and integrity in property underpins everything we do, and we are both delighted to achieve FRICS membership.”
The business was originally formed more than 37 years ago, and since Mark and Chris took over ownership in 2012, it has continued to grow significantly. In 2020, the firm relocated to larger premises at Wyvern Business Park to accommodate its expanding team.
Mark now leads the BB&J Commercial property division, providing a wide range of professional services including sales, lettings and specialist valuations, while Chris leads the residential management and sales operations within Boxall Brown & Jones.
Chris added, “RICS membership has helped us build a strong business reputation over the years, with clients across both the commercial and residential sectors appreciating that they can rely on us for the highest standards of professionalism. It is a testament to our hugely talented team that we are able to continue to push the business forward and operate at such a consistently high level.”
This latest recognition reflects the continued growth of both businesses and their shared commitment to delivering professional excellence across Derby and the wider region.
