Bouygues Construction has selected Northamptonshire for a new Midlands base for Bouygues Construction Plant Solutions UK, taking a specialist industrial facility on Brackmills Industrial Estate to support its plant and logistics operations.
Hadland Chartered Surveyors advised Bouygues Construction Matériel on the search and acquisition, while commercial property specialist Prop-Search acted for the landlord, Federal Estates Limited.
Hadlands undertook a 50-mile search around the Midlands to identify a facility capable of meeting the specialist requirements of the operation. The brief called for a substantial operational yard alongside an industrial building capable of accommodating high-bay gantry cranes and supporting the maintenance of major construction plant.
The selected property provides approximately 31,269 sq ft of industrial accommodation on a 2.95-acre site, with 10-metre eaves, level-access loading, secure access and a substantial operational yard. Federal Estates Limited subsequently delivered a bespoke programme of works to adapt the property to Bouygues Construction’s operational requirements.
Simon Toseland, Director of Prop-Search, commented: ‘’This is a high-quality facility with the scale, yard provision and loading infrastructure required to support a business of Bouygues Construction’s calibre and requirements. The letting is a positive result for our client Federal Estates Limited and reflects Northamptonshire’s continued popularity in terms of central location in the Midlands and critical road infrastructure’’
Bouygues Construction has more than 70 years’ experience of designing, building and renovating projects in the building and civil works sectors that are ever more challenging in terms of technical, environmental, logistical and human requirements, throughout the world.
Aurélien Morel, Head of Department, Bouygues Construction Plant Solutions UK, said: “Hadlands understood our specialist requirements and worked closely with us throughout the search and acquisition. The new facility provides the workshop, operational yard and facilities we need to develop Bouygues Construction Plant Solutions UK and support major infrastructure projects across Great Britain.”
Peter Castle of Hadland Chartered Surveyors said: “This was a particularly specialist brief where the yard, building height and ability to accommodate gantry cranes were all critical. We have really enjoyed working with Aurélien and the Bouygues Construction team and are delighted to have secured the right base for their new UK operation.”
