Over £6,000 raised at Southampton’s Dragon Boat Race

Accountants BDO and The Rainbow Centre hosted an exciting  Dragon Boat Challenge  earlier this month at Mayflower Park in Southampton which has raised over £6,000  for The Rainbow Centre.

A good number of spectators turned out to cheer on  the 14 teams from key local companies and professional services firms taking part in the race. They battled it out through various heats to reach the final which saw Draper Tools grasp victory from accountants Khan Morris by less than half a second, with BDO a valiant third.

Malcolm Thixton, Lead Partner at BDO Southampton says: ‘It was a great day and BDO would like to thank all the teams who put in real effort both on and off the water to raise money for such a good local cause. An unexpected place in the final race for the BDO crew was an added bonus!’

Clare Acklam, Fundraising Manager at The Rainbow Centre added ‘The day was a huge success and the competitive rivalry between each team made it doubly exciting. I would like to thank everyone at BDO and all who raced for supporting the Rainbow Centre.’

The event, which also included family fun entertainments and live music from two local bands, raised money for The Rainbow Centre which helps children with cerebral palsy and adults with MS or Parkinson’s disease, or those recovering from a stroke.
