Bristol’s Cheswick Village neighbourhood centre secures first occupiers

The Square, the recently-completed mixed use neighbourhood scheme at the heart of Cheswick Village in north Bristol, has attracted its first commercial occupiers.

Acting on behalf of Havard Estates, Alder King secured a pre-let earlier this year to Southern Cooperative as the scheme’s food anchor store.  The Coop has taken Unit 5, a 1,647 sq ft store, on a new 15 year lease.

A second 4,313 sq ft pre-let was also agreed with expanding nursery chain Happy Days for its second Bristol nursery.  The childcare provider agreed a 25 year lease on Unit 10.  The new 82 place purpose-built nursery, located next to Wallscourt Farm Academy, is now open.

Two other lettings are currently in solicitors’ hands.

The Square was developed by Balfour Beatty in a joint venture with Havard Estates earlier this year to provide a community focus for the new 1,000 home development at Cheswick Village, which lies in the heart of a 77 acre residential development site near Filton.

The Square features retail, restaurant and service units totalling 29,500 sq ft set around an open square.  It sits in a prominent position on the main road running through the Village and is served by convenient parking.

Over 40% of the development is now let or under offer. The remaining units provide between 1,117 and 4,155 sq ft of accommodation.

Rebecca Harries of Alder King says: “This exciting new development is now acting as a vital hub for the local community.  Demand has been strong from national and regional occupiers seeking good quality space.  With a huge year-round residential, employment, leisure and student catchment right on the doorstep and the first three tenants now in place, we expect interest in The Square to continue.”
