Truslove targets Grand Prix Historique de Pau

Redditch racing driver John Truslove is to take the streets of Pau again in his 1963 Brabham BT-6 in May.

The veteran chartered surveyor will be racing in the 11th Grand Prix de Pau Historique run in the shadow of the French Pyrenees on Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6.
He will be driving a Brabham BT-6 that was the works car of ex-World Champion Denny Hulme.

John, who was 2006 European Formula Junior champion, is excited to be going back to one of his favourite tracks.

“With the exception of Monaco where we have raced twice before, Pau is one of the few genuine street circuits and is a real challenge,” he said.

His last visit to Pau in 2007 saw him finish second overall in the Formula Junior event.

An unseasonal downpour meant that timed practice was run in the wet, as was the first race, and his experience enabled him to retain his second position in a very slippery first race run on the Saturday afternoon. The Sunday race was run in dry conditions and he managed to take fourth place to secure second overall.

“Not only do I enjoy racing there, but we always get great support from a large number of friends and business contacts who follow us over there each time we race in Pau, so I am really looking forward to a weekend featuring not only competitive racing but also a lot of fun and friendship,” he said.
