Friend recruits Littlejohns to head up tax practice

Birmingham accountancy practice Friend LLP has appointed Simon Littlejohns to head up the firm’s tax practice.

A chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser, he has over 25 years of experience in advising a wide range of individuals and companies on tax compliance and planning issues.

He is returning to Birmingham, where he is well known having spent 17 years in the city prior to a recent three year spell in Warwickshire, and is hoping to rekindle some of his old city centre connections.

Senior partner Malcolm Friend said: “This is a great coup for the firm. We are all looking forward to working with Simon who will no doubt bring his considerable tax skill and business experience to bear for the benefit of our clients both old and new.

“We also hope that he will help us to develop and expand the service delivery to a wide range of technology focused individuals and companies.”

Simon Littlejohns said: “I am looking forward to the challenges ahead and getting back in to Birmingham life. Friend LLP is a great firm and I have a wonderful opportunity to work with Malcolm, Denise and their colleagues to help them push the firm to higher levels.

“They have some very exciting technology clients and connections which puts them in an ideal position to exploit the changing landscape with regard to tax incentives for technology biased industries. I also recognise that there are a host of non-technology clients where commercial and timely tax advice is all important.”

Friend LLP was established in 1983 as a corporate finance boutique. Since then the firm has grown and expanded into a well respected chartered accountancy practice offering a full range of accountancy services and taxation advice.

The firm now has offices in Birmingham, London and New York.
