Carter Jonas strengthens Building Consultancy offering with three senior appointments

National property consultancy Carter Jonas has expanded its Building Consultancy offering with the appointment of James Orchard and Richard Howard as Partners, and Rory Sergeant as Associate Partner, strengthening the firm’s capability across key regions. Joining the firm’s Commercial Division, they bring significant sector expertise, supporting the delivery of Carter Jonas’s Vision 2030 strategy.

With established track records across London and the South West, the trio will enhance Carter Jonas’ Building Consultancy capability, boost regional leadership and build capability across the commercial property lifecycle. Together, they will focus on expanding Carter Jonas’ activity across core consultancy services alongside specialist areas such as commercial asset focussed project management, rights of light and wider neighbourly matters advice.

James Orchard joins from Knight Frank, having previously held senior roles with CBRE and Colliers International during his 25-year career advising on early-stage and project consultancy. Based in Central London, he joins Carter Jonas’ Project Management team, working alongside the wider Asset Management, Agency, Investor & Developer focussed teams to support clients with Project Management services. Known for his commercially-led approach, he brings significant experience in shaping investor and landlord strategies.

Richard Howard joins Carter Jonas in London as a Partner and Neighbourly Matters specialist. He brings over 20 years’ experience, having held senior positions with firms including Deloitte Real Estate, Rapleys, and Watts Group. He has extensive expertise in advising developers and landowners on complex neighbourly matters including Rights of Light, daylight/sunlight amenity for planning, and party walls and access agreements among wider issues. He has worked across a range of significant developments, including Galleries Shopping Centre, Rupert Street Car Park and Bristol Zoo, bringing specialist insight to help schemes progress.

Rory Sergeant is a Chartered Building Surveyor with 11 years’ experience working for multi-disciplinary commercial property consultancies. He joins from Lambert Smith Hampton, where he was an Associate Building Surveyor, and previously held roles at Cushman & Wakefield and Avison Young. Based in Bristol, he joins Carter Jonas’ Building Surveying team supporting clients in the South West and working closely with colleagues across the firm to provide integrated advice. With strong technical and market knowledge across the South West, his experience spans public and private sector clients across a wide range of commercial property including offices, retail, historic buildings and residential property.
