Nursery products company finds new home

An international company which designs, manufactures and distributes nursery products to leading retailers and independent stores has moved to a major Black Country business estate.

Weybury Hildreth Ltd has taken on a 5,938 sq ft unit at The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford, bringing its offices and warehousing under one roof. The business required more space and the location and appearance of the estate, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties (LCP), appealed to founder Lee-Anne Simpson.

The Australian-born businesswoman divides her time between Shenzhen in China where the goods are manufactured and her home in Kinver.

Lee-Anne said: “We moved to Pensnett because we needed bigger premises. We had our warehousing contracted out in Flitwick, near Luton, and we had outgrown our office at Kinver. We have brought both together so we can provide a better service to our clients.

“We love The Pensnett Estate because it is incredibly well run and, with its trees and landscaping, it provides a very pleasant working environment.”

The company’s products include the PurFlo mattresses and Koo-di range of travel cots and other practical accessories. It supplies businesses such as Mothercare, Kiddicare, John Lewis, Boots, Tesco and Sainsbury’s and independent nursery stores.

Lee-Anne added: “A number of our designs come from mothers who want to make their lives easier and to find practical ways to help them care for their children. We take those ideas, make them a commercial proposition and pay royalties for the ideas.

“Our success has been based on providing goods which are affordable and good value. Our products are well designed, well manufactured and durable.”

Nine people are employed at its Pensnett base and 62 in China.

The Pensnett Estate is a 185 acre site that is home to almost 200 local, national and international companies and is one is of the largest secure industrial estates in Europe.

Other accommodation available to let there ranges from offices of 113 sq ft to a newly refurbished warehouse/production unit of 55,736 sq ft at the prestigious Vantage Point development which is close to the main entrance. This can be let as two units of 22,766 and 32,970 sq ft.

Kingswinford based LCP is one of the UK’s largest private owners of industrial and retail property. Its total commercial property portfolio in excess of 14 million sq ft is held for long term investment purposes
