Award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash has expanded its presence at Royal William Yard in Plymouth with the launch of a new shopping destination and a deal with its first occupier.
Known as Arcade, this collection of six new units is housed within the Grade I listed Brewhouse building and comprises a total of 4,777 sq ft of flexible retail and leisure space.
The individual units range from 492 to 1,303 sq ft and are suitable for leisure and hospitality occupiers. Each space is designed to be flexible, with options including monthly pop-ups and longer-term leases – all providing a blank canvas for independent retailers, makers, and brands who can operate up to 11pm daily.
The design also encourages shopper flow throughout the space via communal areas and facilities, with the site’s industrial heritage celebrated through raw finishes, exposed stonework, soaring ceilings, and historic details.
The first confirmed occupier, Nala’s Pet Co., a Plymouth-based independent business, will open in a 684 sq ft space in August, bringing Arcade to life alongside a curated selection of pop-up stalls showcasing the best of the South West.
The launch of Arcade marks the latest chapter in Royal William Yard’s ongoing regeneration, led by Urban Splash, complementing the existing mix of restaurants, bars, cultural venues, workplaces, and residential properties at this vibrant waterfront destination, which attracts over one million visitors annually.
Emma Gardiner, Head of Commercial Property at Urban Splash, said: “Arcade reflects our commitment to making Royal William Yard a destination that offers something for everyone. It’s a fresh approach to modern retail within a historic setting, creating a vibrant atmosphere where experiences and community come together.
“We’re delighted to welcome our first shop and look forward to filling Arcade with businesses and brands that complement the Yard, add new energy, and bring unique offerings to the city.”
