Office Principles delivers recipe for Groupe SEB’s refurbished HQ

A leading interior design consultancy has completed work on the newly refurbished UK&I headquarters of the world’s largest cookware manufacturer, Groupe SEB.

Reading-based Office Principles has handed over 14,000 sq ft of CAT B office space on the first floor of the Botanica Building, in Ditton Park, Berkshire.

The 13-week project has created a vibrant workspace on a single floor plate of the unique triangular office building, with capacity for more than 60 employees.

Its design features several purpose-built spaces, including four bespoke kitchen areas that provide functional, meeting and demonstration areas, as well as in-house media capability and a flexible presentation zone that can be reconfigured for events and training.

A social hub lies at the heart of the new working environment, with open plan tea point elevations and a central area that promotes gathering and relaxing.

The collaborative theme is continued through the neighbourhood-style layout of team working areas and private offices, with spaces sheltered by storage and planting to create a sense of ‘home’ for each head office function. Formal meeting rooms dovetail with quiet spaces, team tables and enclosed one-to-one rooms.

The use of modular furniture pieces act as soft divides to direct the flow of the space, minimising the need for any additional built environment and keeping the workspace fully flexible and future-proofed.

Office Principles’ design is marked by the use of a natural palette, permeated with pops of colour. Statement red finishes have been fused with natural, soft timbers, while the wallspace carries a series of uplifting quotes, branding and scribble space.

Perimeter glazing offers stunning views of the extensive surrounding parkland, with internal crittall glass partitions maximising the flow of natural light within the building, whilst biophilia has been strategically placed throughout the workspace to enhance employee wellbeing.

Tom Parsons, sales director at Office Principles, said that the refurbishment had also included necessary M&E works to ensure the delivery of a ‘culture changing environment’ for Groupe SEB employees.

“We’re thrilled to have worked with Groupe SEB to deliver this inspiring new workspace,” said Tom.

“Our relationship goes back more than two years, during which we supported the company in relocating from its previous location in Windsor, to more suitable accommodation on one floor, that is conducive to close team working.

“The design was informed by a series of engagement sessions that enabled us to gain a greater understanding of individual departmental requirements. It has helped us to create an entirely new space within stunning landscaped surroundings. It not only enhances communication and collaboration but delivers a warm, community-feel that people will enjoy being a part of.”
