UBC Welcomes First Client at New Birmingham Centre, 65 Church Street

65 Church Street in Birmingham, the latest workspace location to join United Business Centres’ growing UK portfolio, has welcomed its first client.

James Webber Recruitment (JWR) is an established resourcing and recruitment consultancy operating primarily in the hospitality sector. Founded in 1999 in Salisbury, the firm opened a second office in Birmingham in 2007, from which it has been managed by Associate Director John Nee for the past 7 years.

With further growth plans on the horizon, JWR began searching for a new office in Birmingham to accommodate their growing Midlands team. Their search coincided with UBC’s acquisition of 65 Church Street, based in the commercial and financial heart of the city, which fulfilled a number of key requirements for the JWR group.

Among them, location was high on the priority list. 65 Church Street is based a few moments away from Snow Hill station and is immediately accessible from the A4400, a major city through-route which links to the A38(M) and M6 motorways. This central location combined with easy access by road and rail was a key factor in JWR’s choice of office.

As a personnel and client-facing company, professionalism and appearance was another high priority for the company. 65 Church Street’s brand new fit-out and refurbishment programme, which had been undertaken upon UBC’s acquisition, resulted in a smart, contemporary environment complete with fully equipped meeting rooms and modern amenities.

“The location is ideal for us as we regularly meet clients and interview candidates, so accessibility is essential,” said John.

“The local road and rail links make getting here very easy. Plus as a client-facing business we needed something that had curb appeal and an attractive interior. The recent improvement works means the property looks professional and business-like inside and out.

“It certainly ticks all the right boxes for us and the added flexibility means our Midlands division has plenty of room to grow.”

UBC acquired 65 Church Street in 2013 and manages a total of 33 serviced offices and 148 workstations, spread across five floors of the property. It offers private meeting rooms and facilities including kitchen units and lounge areas.

Church Street itself has recently undergone an improvement programme delivered by Colmore Business District (CBD) and Birmingham City Council, while nearby Colmore Square has also been re-designed, featuring a newly landscaped square with seating and an outdoor event space.
