Developers have broken ground on a new 70-bed care home being built in Bingham, Nottinghamshire.

Contractor Lawrence Baker has been appointed to build the new facility, which will be run by care operator HC-One.

It will be the operator’s second care home in Bingham, and one of more than 300 care homes operated by HC-One across the UK.

The care home is being developed by Nottingham-based Charterpoint Senior Living, which specialises in developing care homes and retirement living schemes.

“We are delighted to see work getting under way on site at our latest project,” said Charterpoint Chief Executive Adrian Goose. “This is an attractive, bespoke scheme which will offer first-class, modern care facilities.

“Charterpoint Senior Living is committed to creating quality developments in excellent locations and we look forward to seeing this facility come to fruition to provide specialist care in the local community.”

Mostly over two storeys, with one section over three storeys, the care home is being built on a brownfield site on Grantham Road which formerly housed a redundant police station.

It will feature residents’ lounges, a hair/beauty salon, cinema room and other extensive communal facilities, along with residents’ gardens.

Operator HC-One offers professional residential, nursing and memory care for older people in over 300 care homes located across England, Scotland and Wales. The new care home will be the company’s second facility in Bingham. It already runs Beauvale in Moor Lane, Bingham, which has a CQC rating of good.

Liz Whyte, Managing Director at Darlington-based HC-One, said:

“We are very pleased to be working with Charterpoint Senior Living and Alpha Real Capital to be expanding our care provision in Bingham.

“At HC-One, we strive to be the first choice care home in every community for older people looking for the very best care and support, and for Colleagues looking to develop a long-term career delivering the kindest and highest quality care.

“This new state-of-the-art care home will complement our high-quality service at Beauvale Care Home, and enable us to employ 70 additional Colleagues to provide the kindest care to even more people in this community when the home opens next year.”

A Fund managed by Alpha Real Capital LLP has acquired the investment from Charterpoint.

James Murray at Alpha Real said:

“We are looking forward to see the scheme develop over the coming months and delighted to be working with both Charterpoint and HC-One to fund the development of this best-in-class facility for the community of Bingham.”

Mayor of Bingham Cllr John Stockwood joined members of the development team for a ground-breaking ceremony to mark the start of work on site, before a reception was held nearby.

The new care home is due to be opened in Summer 2021. It is the latest developed by Charterpoint Senior Living, which is based at Wheatcroft Business Park, Edwalton.

Contractor Lawrence Baker, based at Eynsham, Oxfordshire, is a specialist main contractor to the nursing home and associated care sector.
