Respected chartered surveyor joins Caxtons

One of Kent’s most respected property experts has joined Caxtons, Chartered Surveyors as a professional services consultant.

Tony Meire, 64, is a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) arbitrator and independent expert, accredited mediator and property valuer.

Tony, who has 48 years’ experience primarily in the Kent and London commercial property market, was employed at Cluttons, Kent, for 38 years and was appointed a commercial partner in 1980. He previously worked at Richard Ellis, London, for 10 years, where he trained as a chartered surveyor.

During his career, Tony handled property valuation, landlord and tenant and restrictive covenants issues, and also dealt with boundary disputes and business rates appeals.

For over 25 years he has specialised in property related dispute resolution, acting as an arbitrator or independent valuer, as well as expert witness in litigation cases.  In 2009 he became a RICS accredited mediator in property disputes.

Tony said: “In August this year I retired from my role as a commercial partner, but I still wanted to carry on working in the industry.

“I am really pleased to have been appointed a consultant to the professional services team at Caxtons as this has given me the opportunity to continue to use my specialist skills and expertise.

“As the largest chartered surveyors in Kent, Caxtons works with some very high profile businesses so I’m looking forward to advising a diverse range of firms on commercial, industrial and residential property issues.”

Daniel Thackray, director and head of professional services at Caxtons, added: “Tony is a highly-regarded chartered surveyor and has an outstanding reputation in our industry so we are delighted he has joined the team at Caxtons.

“Tony knows the local property market well having worked in the county for 38 years. He is also one of only a handful of RICS independent experts and arbitrators based in Kent.

“His experience and knowledge in commercial property matters will be of real value and benefit to our clients, and his appointment strengthens our professional services offering.”

Tony is married and lives in Littlebourne, near Canterbury.
