Plans submitted for new-look beachfront venue

The partners behind Swansea’s forthcoming new beachfront leisure, food and drink venue say it will offer a warm welcome for all.

Those who enjoyed Seven in its former guise as 360 will enjoy a roomy new café and lounge bar area with room for around 80. There will be new space for dogs and their walkers.

Those looking for sophistication will be able to enjoy a restaurant with around 60 seats.

The venue, extended to one side and at the back, will open seven days a week for much of the day and into the night. The public toilets remain along with the Changing Places area for those with a disability.

There will be extended seating area on the prom – and the popular glass balustrade will be extended.

The existing equipment store, a short distance from the main building, will double as a sports academy with reception desk, seating and a digital presentation screen.

The people behind the new attraction are brother and sister Ryan and Lucy Hole – and former Swans star Leon Britton.

Leon Britton, who will oversee the academy, said: “Seven will have an exciting offer for those wishing to make use of the beach and prom for sport and leisure.

“The restaurant will be top-class, serving food and offering music into the night – and the coffee bar will be open from breakfast time.”

The dining and entertainment elements will be operated by Ryan and Lucy who also own the successful Optimist Bar and Kitchen in Uplands.

Ryan Hole said: “The transformation on the seafront will be amazing. Seven is an investment we’re making in the future of Swansea; we want it to attract many more visitors to this part of our home city.

“There are very few cities that front directly onto a spectacular beach so this site is one of the best locations in the UK.

“Seven will be an exciting and vibrant addition to the beachfront where people can enjoy great food, music and activities all-year round.”

Lucy Hole said: “Seven is in an amazing location – and we want to do full justice to it.

“The views are wonderful right around the bay and we’re excited to have somebody of Leon’s stature on board; he has always wanted to give back to his adopted home town.

“We plan to create something which Swansea can be proud of.”

Subject to final contract arrangements, Seven will take control of the former 360 site early this year. The council will continue to own the site and Seven will be its tenants under a 25-year lease.

The previous business, 360, closed in September and Swansea Council undertook a rigorous search for the best new tenants.

Seven is due to open this summer.
