Clothing wholesaler needs larger size for business growth

A Black Country company which is one of the UK’s leading importers and distributors of wholesale promotional clothing has more than doubled its warehouse space as it continues to grow.

Absolute Apparel has expanded four times since it was established in 2005 and will relocate from a 24,214 sq ft base at the Hill Top Estate in West Bromwich to a 49,110 sq ft warehouse on the same estate, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties (LCP).

The company supplies functional leisure, corporate and workwear clothing to businesses around the UK, sourcing its own brand of garments from all over the world. It has invested heavily in IT and warehouse logistics to ensure a speedy and accurate turnaround to meet orders and deliver a high quality customer service.

Managing director Frank Jheinga said: “Having a bigger warehouse will enable us to double our inventory and offer an even better service. We concentrate on a focused product range, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts and fleeces, which we do very well. Customers order from our catalogue and we deliver the next morning.

“In 2013 we will add corporate shirts, trousers, ties and outerwear to our line. Now we have the space to stock these new items I am sure we can improve our market share in these sectors too. We develop the garments with quality and wearability in mind at a competitive price and as we don’t use middle men we can pass on the savings to our customers.”

Absolute Apparel started in a single unit at LCP’s Dunstall Hill Estate in Wolverhampton and moved to bigger premises at Hill Top as the business expanded. Frank wanted to stay in the Black Country to retain his team and also required a strategic location which suited the company’s distribution needs.

Margaret Hopkins, LCP’s marketing director, said: “We believe in developing relationships with businesses on our estates. Over the years we have helped Frank by being flexible to accommodate his changing property needs and by having a wide range of properties within our portfolio in both size and location.”

The Hill Top Estate is a fully fenced site approximately two miles from Junction 1 of the M5 motorway. The Great Bridge junction of the Black Country Spine Road is less than one mile away offering good communication to the Black Country conurbation, the West Midlands and beyond.

A unit of 24,241 sq ft remains available to let on the estate.
