Former Thai restaurant and historic malt house in Monmouth to go under the auctioneer’s hammer

An ancient former malt house and an adjoining former Thai restaurant near the heart of Monmouth are going under the hammer.

The significant, historic building at 10-14 St Mary Street, Monmouth, is just off the town centre and close to Monmouth school for boys.

The building, which has a total floor area of almost 10,000 sq ft spread over three floors, is being sold by Paul Fosh Auctions and has a guide price of £275,000.

Paul Fosh said: “This is an important and substantial property in the centre of Monmouth which most recently traded as the Dragons Den Thai restaurant and is still fitted out as such.

“This sizeable period property is ideally located just off the centre of Monmouth. The building has a central entrance with dining areas to the left and right with restaurant and bar area at the back offering in total seating for some 92 customers.”

There is a large maisonette at the front of the building and the large former malt house to the rear with space over two floors.

Mr Fosh said: “The property currently has an A3 restaurant and café consent but as it is situated in a largely residential area may have scope for conversion to some residential use subject to planning.”
