Westrock secures planning for £150m Crawley mixed-use regeneration

Westrock has successfully secured planning permission for phase two of Crawley’s ‘Boulevard’ regeneration. In partnership with Crawley Borough Council, the project will deliver 273 residential apartments, a landmark 150,000 sq. ft. Town Hall and office building, a district heat network centre, new public square, restaurants/cafes, and upgraded parking facilities.

In 2017 Westrock secured planning consent for the first residential building of 91 units and will commence construction after the summer. Development of the new Town Hall and office building will commence in 2019.

Westrock is planning to achieve BREEAM Excellent for the Council’s landmark Town Hall and office building. The new district heating network centre is planned to power the office and residential elements, as well as include expansion provisions to power other major users in Crawley. The scheme also remains fully compliant with affordable housing policy.

Councillor Andrew Skudder, Cabinet member for Resources, said: “This is a big step for the Council towards improving facilities for staff, customers and councillors. The new Town Hall will provide a significantly improved welcome and customer service experience for visitors. The overall scheme also brings forward another major regeneration project in the town centre. With Queens Square completed and Queensway, Eastern Gateway and Station Gateway coming forward these are exciting times for the town.”
