All hands to the pumps at Commerce Park

A new petrol filling station is to be built at Commerce Park, Frome, as the region’s premier business development continues to expand.

This follows the sale of a 1.25-acre plot of industrial development land through property consultancy Myddelton & Major.

Quoting price for the roadside frontage Plot A6 – acquired by Poole-based filling station developer and operator Forelle Estates Ltd – was £400,000 per acre.

Forelle has already obtained planning consent for the filling station, including retail and food premises and car and jetwash facilities, on the site adjacent to Southgate.

The site, which will operate 24 hours a day, will have Shell fuel and include a Budgens supermarket, Subway food outlet and Costa Coffee.

Myddelton & Major Partner Philip Holford said: “It’s not hard to see why Commerce Park is doing so well.

“It is wonderfully located on the Somerset/Wiltshire border midway between the M4, M5 and A303 corridors and has excellent road and rail links, including its own access roundabout.

“The decision to develop the 64-acre park – north east of Frome town centre – has proved to be a masterstroke, with dozens of jobs created as the demand for high-quality industrial space regionally from new and expanding companies continues to grow.

“Alongside the Premier Inn Hotel and Frome Flyer pub, this filling station will provide a valuable addition to the facilities at Commerce Park as it continues to strengthen its position as the region’s premier business park.”

Private investment company Forelle holds a substantial portfolio of commercial properties in the central southern region.

Spokesman John Mason said: “We were delighted to get the opportunity to develop this filling station – it’s is an amenity that Commerce Park has been crying out for.

“It has been a real pleasure to work with Myddelton & Major who have made the acquisition process as smooth as possible.”

Commerce Park is located midway between the M4, M5 and A303 corridors close to the junction of the A36 and A361.

It is approximately 14 miles south of Bath and 13 miles from the A303 and is situated on the A361 (Frome by-pass), approximately two miles south of the A36/A361 junction.

Occupiers there include Primavera Aromatherapy, Acheson & Acheson, Imperial Commercials, Watson Gym Equipment, Cox & Cox and SRCL.”
