Vacant Worcester retail premises provides perfect growth opportunity for small business

A vacant retail premises could be the perfect opportunity for a small, independent company to expand their business, according to Halls Commercial.

24/25 The Cross, which is being marketed by the Worcester-based agents, was formerly a Blacks retail store. The property, which has a double display frontage, occupies a prominent position within The Cross in Worcester City Centre and is close to the pedestrianised section of the High Street.

The Cross is an established business and retail location with neighbouring retailers including Cancer Research UK, Ladbrokes, Costa Coffee and a number of High Street banks.

The property, which measures a total of 3,615 sq ft, comprises a mid-terrace retail premises with accommodation over three floors – a ground floor retail area (2,410 sq ft) with first (652 sq ft) and second floor (553 sq ft) ancillary accommodation.

Charlotte Fullard, senior surveyor at Halls Commercial, said: “While larger retailers like Blacks are falling by the wayside in the current climate, smaller independent retailers are grasping opportunities to start up new businesses, or move to larger premises to aid expansion plans.”

The Cross is Halls’ latest retail instruction. Since 2010, the agents have been instructed on seven city centre retail properties in Worcester. The premises ranged from 735 sq ft to 5,392 sq ft with rental prices between £20,000 and £45,000 per annum, and one purchase at £850,000. Two of those properties were only on the market for two and four months before being let.
