Leading Black Country-based scaffolding specialist MTD Altrad Ltd is growing its presence in the region by relocating to larger premises.

Chartered surveyors Johnson Fellows secured the deal which sees MTD Altrad take a 10-year lease on a 40,000 sq ft newly refurbished industrial and distribution unit at Logicor’s Junction 2 Industrial Estate, next to the M5, in Oldbury.

The distribution premises has two storeys of office accommodation and has been extensively refurbished by the landlords. It also comes with strategic advantages too, allowing occupiers swift access to the motorway and other key regional road links.

The company is relocating from its Tividale depot as it expands to meet the demands of the booming construction sector. MTD Altrad Ltd is part of the Altrad Group, which is its French parent company.

Mike Price, industrial agency partner at Johnson Fellows, who concluded the deal on behalf of site owner Logicor, says the expansion demonstrates the strength of the construction sector.

“We are delighted to have completed this letting which is testament to both the UK economy and the construction sector as a whole. Despite the many uncertainties facing it in this present time it continues to perform very strongly.

“MTD Altrad is a long established Black Country company, and we are genuinely pleased that its French parent company is backing its expansion in the region” he said.

Joint agents Harris Lamb and Lambert Smith Hampton also represented Logicor, while Bowyer Bryce represented MTD Altrad.

Richard Phillips, UK portfolio director of Logicor, said: “We have great faith in the resilience of the industrial and warehousing sector in this country. I am delighted to welcome MTD Altrad to the Logicor Oldbury estate.”
