Building for success at McAndrew Martin

Michele Polastri, left, is welcomed to McAndrew Martin by director of structural engineering Noor Awan

A Hampshire property surveying practice has expanded its structural engineering department under an ambitious recruitment drive.

McAndrew Martin, which covers Hampshire, London and the South, has increased its capacity with the appointment of structural engineer Michele Polastri.

He joins the 33-strong firm as it continues to create jobs and seeks to employ upto 10 new staff this year, including CAD technicians, mechanical engineers and general practice and residential surveyors.

McAndrew Martin has already welcomed a series of new employees as it enters the next phase of its growth following a restructuring into six divisions.

Managing director Bill McAndrew said: “Demand continues to rise for our multi-disciplinary services, including our structural engineering expertise.

“I am pleased to welcome Michele, as skilled and committed structural engineers of his calibre can be difficult to recruit.  I am sure he will be a valuable addition to our expert and experienced team.”

Bill added: ‘We anticipate more appointments in 2017 to meet increased volumes of work and deliver an even greater service for clients whilst also supporting the local economy and property sector.”

The expansion of the structural engineering department comes in response to new workloads driven by large MoD projects and commercial contracts.

Michele will work under director of structural engineering Noor Awan.  Michele gained his qualifications in Italy, including an MSc.

Noor said: “The appointment represents significant expansion of our structural engineering department.

“It demonstrates the increasing importance of the department as an integral part of the firm’s multi-disciplinary services.”

McAndrew Martin, which is based in Portsmouth, unveiled its new corporate structure and ‘Professional Solutions by Design’ strapline at the iconic Gherkin skyscraper in London in September.

Its six disciplines are Building Surveying, Project Management and Contract Administration, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture and General Practice.

They allow McAndrew Martin to meet individual client requirements and provide an overarching service with full end to end design solutions.

McAndrew Martin is seeking to fill junior and senior positions from professionally qualified, technically qualified and work experienced candidates – especially mechanical engineers.
