Strong demand for Georgian splendour

Leading Bath-based hairdressers Dappa are on the extensions trail – opening a second city centre salon in Argyle Street.

National Licensed property specialists Colliers International brokered the deal on behalf of LPA Receivers and have sold the former Liberty restaurant in Argyle Street to Dappa operators Yvonne del Greco and Alina Narnicka.

Yvonne said: “We are delighted to be opening the second salon in such a stunning building that oozes character. It’s a great location in keeping with Bath’s outstanding reputation.”

DAPPA already runs hairdressing and barbers’ services from its existing base in nearby Broad Street.

Yvonne said: “We feel the new shop is the perfect size to create something a little different in the market and it will also allow us to build up our cosmetics business Brit’s Haircare.”

The property is a mixture of ground and lower ground floor trading space, formerly  a restaurant with a bar on the first floor, and two floors of investment income above.

Colliers International Bristol-based hotels director Simon Wells said there had been plenty of interest in the prominent city centre location – despite the challenging economic climate.

He said: “Interestingly the pace was set by owner occupiers wanting to own a freehold rather than pay rent. We had no fewer than five offers and more than 20 viewings.

“What we could really do with is more property to sell within the city.”

The property was sold off an asking price of £650,000.
