Vail Williams secures more than 55,000 sq ft of office space for First Utility

A deal brokered by commercial property specialist Vail Williams has seen gas and electricity supplier First Utility secure the last 21,200 sq ft of space from Tui at Columbus House, Westwood Business Park in Coventry.

Vail Williams has helped First Utility fit the final piece of its expansion puzzle by securing the ground floor of modern open plan space at Columbus House – building and developing on its current headquarters in Warwick as part of its ongoing development programme.

First Utility are a rapidly growing company and Vail Williams previously secured the first and second floors totalling approximately 34,000 sq ft in 2014/15, and has worked to now acquire the whole building for First Utility – generating an impressive 170 new jobs for the Coventry region and beyond.

Carole Taylor, Partner at Vail Williams said: “We are very proud to have used our regional knowledge and expertise to help First Utility secure business space that offers so much commercial, employment, financial and investment benefit to the region. With the Northern Powerhouse really taking effect in the core northern cities, it’s great to be a part of promoting the Midlands too as a region for inward investment and encourage collaborative working between local business and influencers.

“The completion of this deal will go some way in creating the jobs that the region is crying out for, and helping to expand First Utility as a business over the years has been a very exciting project for us.”

First Utility will occupy the space until January 2024.

John Wrighthouse HR Director said: “We are really pleased to secure the last floor at Columbus House as part of our plans to expand and develop the business. Vail Williams has helped and supported us through every stage of the acquisition since 2014, where they secured the second floor of the building. Now that the project is complete we are looking forward to developing and growing the company in the region by filling the new job vacancies that are available.”
