Harris Lamb has expanded its Rating team with the appointment of surveyor Robert Pinks, who joins the business after spending 10 years with other organisations in Oxfordshire and the Midlands.

Robert joins Harris Lamb from the UK’s largest business rates specialists CVS (Commercial Valuers and Surveyors) where he was responsible for a mixed caseload and a diverse range of clients, completing valuation appeals using comparable, trade-based and contractor’s methods, carried out inspections, producing rental analysis and overseeing extensive research into business rates appeals.

Andrew Hulbert, of Harris Lamb’s Rating team, said: “The department has been extremely busy over the past 12 months as we’ve added to our client portfolio to support them in ensuring they don’t find themselves facing unfair charges, to prepare appeals, and to manage the transition between the 2010 and 2017 business rates lists. To that end, it has become necessary to add to our team in order to continue to service our clients in the coming months.

“Robert brings extensive experience of the Rating and appeals process which will benefit our clients and prove an asset to the team at what we forecast to be an incredibly busy period. He has a high level of skills in the field which will be invaluable to us. Heightened awareness of the business rates process further to the last Budget has led to a surge in enquiries for guidance and support and we’re keen to assist all our clients quickly and efficiently,” he said.

Robert, from Coventry, said he had been attracted to Harris Lamb by its excellent reputation and the business’ passion for the property industry.

“I was attracted to Harris Lamb due to its exemplary reputation in the market place. The business offers the breadth and depth of experience available to achieve RICS qualification.

“I hope that with five years’ experience in Rating, a strong commercial sense and a client based outlook, I will enhance the existing team and assist its growth,” he added.

Harris Lamb has a proven track record of providing the mentoring and support necessary to put its team through RICS qualification process.

Robert’s appointment follows the business’ announcement earlier this year that it planned to expand its workforce by 15 per cent by the end of 2016.
