Superbowl strikes at Queensberry Real Estate’s Friars Walk in Newport

Queensberry Real Estate has secured Superbowl UK at its Friars Walk development in Newport. The Ten Pin Bowling operator will take 18,000 sq ft of space at the 390,000 sq ft retail and leisure destination, which opens on 12 November 2015.

Its seventh UK venue, Superbowl UK Newport will boast 12 State of the art lanes, Crazy Club Soft Play Centre, Laser Quest Arena, Diner and Boutique Bar Lounge on offer at Friars Walk. This will complement the scheme’s leisure and dining offer, which will include an eight screen Cineworld multiplex cinema and 11 family restaurants.

Stuart Harris, Director and Co-Founder of Queensberry Real Estate said: “Superbowl UK is a significant milestone for Friars Walk ahead of our opening on 12 November 2015. It will bring a new offer to the heart of Newport City Centre and cements the scheme’s family orientated retail and leisure offer.”

Kate Quaintance-Blackford, Director of Superbowl UK said: “It’s with great pleasure to announce our seventh Family Entertainment Centre opening in spring 2016. Superbowl UK Newport will be our 3rd venue within the South Wales area. We shall be delighted to again be using local tradesmen to help bring Superbowl UK Newport to life. With the great success of Superbowl UK Cardiff situated within Stadium Plaza and Superbowl UK Merthyr at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Village, we are very excited to be going in Friars Walk and bringing something new to the community of Newport.”

Superbowl UK Newport will sit alongside Friars Walk’s full offer Debenhams Department Store and 35 retail units as well as the cinema and restaurants. The scheme also offers 350 parking spaces and a major new bus station interchange.

Friars Walk has designed to integrate in to Newport’s existing retail and leisure offer. On completion it will provide an estimated 1,200 jobs worth around £15 million in salaries a year to the local economy.

Friars Walk serves as the focal point of the comprehensive programme of regeneration underway in Newport, which has become one of Wales’ fastest growing towns. Lying between the River Usk and Newport’s existing retail core, the scheme aims to reconnect a disjointed part of the cityscape and create a cohesive, attractive and accessible urban realm.

The letting agents for Friars Walk are Lunson Mitchenall, Cooke & Arkwright, Nick Young & Co and CBRE.
