Harris Lamb sells former wine warehouse in Worcester

A former Worcester wine warehouse is set to be refurbished into a niche retail scheme.

Harris Lamb has overseen the £150,000 sale of the 4,500 sq ft former Majestic Wine store in Silver Street on behalf of Carillion Richardson.

Jacqui Bayliss, of Harris Lamb’s Worcester office, welcomed the investment into restoring one of the city’s most historically significant sites, which follows the business’ sale of the Graingers building in St Martin’s Quarter to Glazzards Architects.

“The timing of this sale couldn’t be better as it comes as Glazzards unveiled an extensive, and impressive refurbishment to the Graingers building. The building now looks spectacular, and with an extensive refurbishment now underway at this site to provide new retail accommodation with ancillary accommodation, it’s wonderful to see the scope for the finished project.

“The Silver Street building is steeped in local history, having once been used as a hospital after the Battle of Worcester, and the building has been derelict for some time.  There’s been a great deal of local interest in what would happen to the building after Carillian Richardson – the developer of  St Martin’s Quarter – secured planning permission for the premises two years ago.

“The region as a whole is flourishing right now and this will breathe new life into the heart of the city. We are thrilled that the developers plan to restore this treasured site to its former glory and ensure it remains complimentary to the surroundings,” she added.
