Hampshire firms set to pitch for contracts worth millions

A business matchmaking day that last year triggered deals worth more than £6 million is returning to the Ageas Bowl under the management of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.

Meet the Buyer brings procurement officers from the public and private sectors face to face with local suppliers.

The ‘A to Z’ of activities that this year’s buyers are especially looking for help with stretches from advanced engineering and architecture to waste management and web design.

Suppliers have the chance to arrange one-to-one meetings with potential sales targets thanks to intuitive software that matches them with relevant buyers.

Hampshire Chamber Chief Executive Stewart Dunn said: “Meet the Buyer has a proven track record of supporting the supply chains in a diverse range of sectors.

“It’s an ideal chance for small and medium sized businesses across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to meet major buyers in person on the same day in the same place.

“For procurement teams, it is an easy, direct way to source competitive deals on the essential products and services they need for their organisations.”

Meet the Buyer has been coordinated by Hampshire Chamber for the past three years with funding from local authority partners. This year they are the Solent Growth Hub, Portsmouth City Council, Havant Borough Council, Winchester City Council, Test Valley Borough Council, Gosport Borough Council, New Forest District Council, Eastleigh Borough Council and Southampton City Council.

The event takes place at the Ageas Bowl near Southampton on 22 October, 2015. As well as arranging one-to-one meetings with buyers, suppliers can take advantage of a free sales training breakfast and a business growth clinic led by experts from the Solent Growth Hub.
