Better Bathrooms makes move into Cardiff

Award-winning Better Bathrooms, the largest independent bathroom and tiles retailer in the UK, is opening a new showroom in Cardiff on 25 June 2015.

As part of the company’s expansion plans, the new showroom at the former Audi and CVC car showroom premises at Hadfield House, Hadfield Road, will be the company’s first outlet in Wales and the ninth showroom in the Better Bathrooms’ portfolio. The store will create new jobs in the local area and within the business.

Better Bathrooms boasts the largest showrooms in the UK, with over 5,000 products on display and offers internet prices in store.

CEO and founder of Better Bathrooms, Colin Stevens said: “We are delighted to add our first Welsh store to our property portfolio and have recruited a great team who are friendly, knowledgeable and from the local area. We are very excited about the store and the opportunity to be part of the Cardiff community. The new showroom looks great and it is a fantastic addition to the Better Bathrooms’ brand.”

Better Bathrooms has taken the 17,272 sq ft premises on a new 10 year lease from landlord Mon Motors Ltd. DTZ’s Cardiff office acted on behalf of the landlord and Robert Pinkus & Co. LLP acted on behalf of Better Bathrooms. The property, which fronts both Hadfield Road and Bessemer Road on a 0.70 acre site, is located in an established commercial area close to one of the main arterial routes into Cardiff city centre, approximately two miles east. Other established retailers in the vicinity include Toyota, Mitsubishi, B&Q, Wickes and Halfords.

Chris Yates, Surveyor in DTZ Cardiff’s Industrial Agency Team commented: “Our client recognised that most car dealerships are now insisting upon bespoke properties and as such we sought to target occupiers who would benefit from locating to one of Cardiff’s premier commercial locations. The property benefits from excellent road communications and profile, situated in an area incorporating a number of national trade and out-of-town retailers. Better Bathrooms appreciated the property’s excellent location and recognised the opportunity this presented to further drive their UK wide expansion plans.”

Commercial property consultants Robert Pinkus & Co. LLP are Better Bathrooms’ sole property agent for their new store acquisition drive. Joe Assalone, Partner at the firm said: “Better Bathrooms looked at various sites in the locality but this particular property came out on top for a number of reasons namely the overall visibility and prominent location, great parking and accessibility for customers. The success of the brand and the quality of the products offered by this retailer is the main facilitator behind the company’s continued fast-tracked growth and we continue to search for properties across the UK that match what the Cardiff showroom has to offer.”

The search for new retail sites continues with  the company looking to secure properties from 15,000 to 20,000 sq ft over maximum two floors in highly visible, easily accessible, non-prime retail locations throughout the UK.
