One of South Wales’ leading law firms is celebrating after being shortlisted for the Business in the Community Responsible Business Awards in Wales.
The Responsible Business Awards in Wales showcase the best of responsible business in action in companies of all sizes and sectors across Wales.
HardingEvans has been nominated in the Dŵr Cymru Inspiring Young Talent Award category in recognition of the success of their successful #TeamHE be inspired work experience and professional training programme.
The #TeamHE Be Inspired programme covers a wide range of applicants from training contracts for law students to schemes such as Jobs Growth Wales.
HardingEvans recognises the importance of supporting young people during their transition from education into the world of work. The company believes that it is not only important to provide employment but also the skills required to build a successful career, continually challenging and motivating staff.
Joy Phillips, Practice Director said: “We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for these awards in recognition of the hard work that has gone into setting up our comprehensive training programme. We have all heard the phrase ‘lost generation’ and everyone at HardingEvans feels a moral responsibility to do our bit to stop that actually becoming a reality within our community.
“Our initiative is an important part of our strategic development and not only fulfils our ambition to make a difference to the community but is also making a real difference to our business.”
As well as providing job opportunities for staff, to date, 60 young individuals have benefited from 60 weeks of work experience in the past five years providing opportunities for them to make informed choices about their future career.
Ashleigh Farrow, a digital marketer with HardingEvans said: “I joined HardingEvans under the Jobs Growth Wales Scheme. I was given opportunities from the start to make a real contribution to the Social Media Strategy. I’ve really enjoyed my time at HardingEvans and was really pleased when they decided to make me a permanent member of staff.”
Siobhan Downes who started as Trainee and is now an Associate said: “I am delighted to have had the opportunities I have since joining HardingEvans. Following my admission to the Law Society’s Children’s Panel and becoming an Associate is the icing on the cake, as both the department and the firm continue to go from strength to strength.”
The winner will be announced at Wales Responsible Business Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday 25th June.
