Black Country bedroom furniture supplier expands again

One of the country’s top suppliers of beds has expanded in the Black Country for a second time in just five months.

Since the beginning of the year, Serene Furnishings, based on The Hill Top Estate, West Bromwich, has taken on more than an extra 70% of space.

In July, the company leased an additional 35,300 sq ft after asking London & Cambridge Properties, which owns and manages the estate, to find it extra space to accommodate a new range of products that it is planning to launch.

This month, the firm, which has been at Hill Top since 2008 and now supplies more than 700 retailers across the UK, has signed a 12-month lease for buildings 67 and 68 at The Pensnett Estate, Kingswinford. The 53,309 sq ft of warehouse space will be used to house its new collections.

Nadirah Habib, director, said it is an exciting time for the firm, which she runs with husband Tasleem Tasab.

It needs the extra space to cope with expected demand for a new range of products that it is to unveil at the flagship Furniture Show at the NEC in January 2015.

“We are anticipating incredible interest in our new ranges so need the extra space again to store the products,” she said. “We are extremely pleased that LCP has been able to find us even more space at The Pensnett Estate.”

Andrew Preston, industrial property manager of LCP, who negotiated terms for the new space, said: “We were only too pleased to help Serene Furnishings, which is one of our long-term tenants, to find the extra warehousing space it needs. It’s good to see a local company continuing to go from strength to strength.”
