Wakemans appointed on major retail development

Property and construction consultancy Wakemans has been appointed by St Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, on a major new retail development at Leicester Road in Rugby.

Wakemans will provide four professional services; employers’ agent, quantity surveying, CDM coordinator and BREEAM assessments for the £6 million project, the latest phase to be developed on this former industrial site.  Wakemans also managed the remediation work on the 82 acre brownfield site for the earlier residential and industrial elements and worked on the £35 million Centre of Excellence facility for Warwickshire College that was completed in 2010.

Wickes, Homebase, Benson for Beds and Pets at Home have taken space on the site which is ideally located 1.4 km north east of the center of Rugby and close to the M6.

Barnwood Construction has been appointed to carry out the building works and the project is due for completion by September 2015.

“This has been a major regeneration project that is now coming to a close and the addition of the new retail units provides a welcome addition to the existing retail environment at Junction 1 Retail Park,” says Wakemans regional director Dean Watson.
