A woman who went from being a bank cashier to a successful international entrepreneur has wona prestigious business award.
Jenny Campbell, CEO of Milton Keynes-based company YourCash which provides cash machine services to thousands of businesses across Europe, has been crowned Businesswoman of the Year 2014.
She was awarded the prestigious title at the 32nd Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards ceremony at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel to celebrate the outstanding achievements of businesswomen across the UK.
Jenny overcame strong competition from six other leading businesswomen from a range of industry sectors including manufacturing, engineering, events and finance.
Jenny was born into a business-orientated family of bankers, builders and painters and opted to go straight into the world of work at 16 to join the banking industry.
By the time she was 23, she had completed her banking qualifications and had been awarded a Chartered Institute of Bankers’ prize.
In 2006, Jenny was appointed to manage the Royal Bank of Scotland’s (RBS) subsidiary cash machine business, Hanco ATM Systems, and after transforming its operational systems, she led a management buyout of the company to establish YourCash Ltd in 2010.
Under her direction, YourCash has become a leading independent ATM deployer, handling over 75 million ATM transactions, with an annual income of over £30 million.
Jenny’s key achievements include introducing a free to use ATM proposition as well as expanding the business into Belgium and the Netherlands.
The Businesswoman of the Year Awards recognise the skills and talents of women in industry with the aim of inspiring others to reach their potential.
Finalist Lee Thomas, founder of Coventry-based events staffing agency Aesthetics Events Staff, was also singled out for praiseand was highly commendedfor her achievements.
Awards chair Judy Groves said: “We received fantastic entries from leading businesswomen across the UK but it was Jenny’s story that shone through for the judges.
“Jenny is a fantastic business role model and we are certain that women across the UK will be inspired by her journey, having worked her way up from a bank cashier to an entrepreneur of a successful European business.
“She has been the main driver of growth within YourCash– having transformed its operations from a sales mentality to a service mentality in order to secure success and we are sure thatwinning this award will allow her to open up more opportunities.”
She added: “The standard of entries for this year’s awards were extremely high which is why,for the first time,we decided to recognise a second finalist.
“Lee Thomas was highly commended for the leadership of her business Aesthetics Events Staff which supplies over 12,000 staff for a variety of world-renowned brands, sports teams and venues.”
The awards raised funds for three charities including Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer, Alzheimer’s Research UK and Vitalise.
