Success is rising for Ilkeston cake company

People looking to treat themselves in the downturn has driven growth at Cabico Ltd, the leading cake supplier to the food retail sector.

With help from NG Chartered Surveyors, the firm moved to a larger 18,000 sq ft premises at Cossall Industrial Estate in Solomon Road.

According to Cabico’s MD Peter Rasmussen, people still have to eat in a recession – and enjoy a taste of something delicious even in a downturn.

Peter said: “We are a growing company. Our move to Cossall sees us growing our premises by 50%. We now employ ten people at the site and we expect that figure to grow.

“We anticipate further growth in the coming year which means taking on more staff and expanding our client base. We are a British company which distributes businesses throughout the UK.”

NG Chartered Surveyors represented the landlord at Cossall Industrial Estate where Cabico took the warehouse and industrial unit.

Partner Jonathon Seddon said: “Cabico is clearly a company which is growing in the downturn. They were looking for suitable premises close to the major road network. As a company which transports food goods all over the country, it was essential they were close to the M1.

“We are delighted to be assisting this company which is not only expanding, but which is planning to employ more people over the coming months.”

Peter added: “We distribute the long life cakes nationwide. We have found that people still want to have a good time in the downturn – and treat themselves.

“Cake cheers people up and takes their mind off the bad times. Because of that, we are seeing growth and moved from our Bingham base to Ilkeston.”
