Major law firm strengthen corporate team

Midlands-based solicitors Wright Hassall has appointed two new members to its corporate team.

Michael Hiscock has joined Wright Hassall as a Senior Associate in construction along with Christopher Jones who joins as an Associate in the banking and finance division of the Leamington solicitors.

Michael brings with him a wealth of experience in the sector, having spent 15 years in Nottingham working with two large law firms in the city.

Christopher arrives at Wright Hassall with seven years’ experience with a ‘magic circle’ law firm in London and two years’ experience with a major Birmingham law firm.

Michael, 39, said: “I am delighted to be joining Wright Hassall’s corporate team. I have been brought in to Wright Hassall to add strength to the team, working with clients to help expand their business and maximise their capital assets in the best possible way.

“I am joining at a time when the construction sector is showing signs of increased confidence following tough economic times and I am looking forward to developing the positive business opportunities on offer.”

Michael brings substantial construction sector experience to Wright Hassall with a particular remit around transactional construction including contract and procurement work.

He has been involved in construction projects for care homes, doctor’s centres and GPs surgeries and acted as legal representative in the development of both Nottingham and Loughborough University

Christopher, 32, who is originally from Leamington, said: “I am very pleased to be joining Wright Hassall and I am looking forward to leading the expansion of the corporate team’s finance offering.

“I will be working on all aspects of finance law with a particular focus on lending and investment into small and medium sized businesses.

“Having grown up in Leamington, it’s great to return home and see a thriving business community here in the area. I am very excited and enthusiastic about working with SMEs and lenders to the help the business community develop, invest and expand now and into the future.”

Christopher brings a wealth of corporate finance experience with him to Wright Hassall, having acted for banks, private equity houses and corporates.

He has extensive experience of a wide range of financial transactions including secured lending, property and development financing, asset-based lending, invoice discounting and supplier financing.

Christopher also advises on securitisation and debt capital market financings, asset financing and leasing together with restructuring and financing matters.
