Major cardboard stockist to open in Black Country after LCP’s £800,000 investment

A carton board, graphical board and paper stockist is moving into new premises in West Bromwich after London & Cambridge Properties (LCP) undertook an £800,000 refurbishment of the property.

Warren Board Sales Ltd has taken a 10-year lease on the 42,491 sq ft Unit 7, Hill Top, from where it will operate Warren Converters Ltd.

The Leicester-based firm is the UK’s leading independent stockist to carton converters, paper merchants and commercial/general print companies.

The new site in West Bromwich will enable it to offer a new in-house converting service, which will include reel-to-sheet, rewinding and guillotining. It will also have additional storage capacity.

After outsourcing the converting service side of the business for many years, the company made the decision to bring the service in house, which required significant investment in premises, plant and staff.

“We have had the concrete floor prepared ready for the installation of the machines that will guillotine products to size and will re-wind from reels of board up to four tonnes, to smaller reels, palletising and shrink wrapping our products to be delivered in to customers on pallets,” said Kieran Ferguson, managing director.

“The space we have in West Bromwich will also enable us to store some stock for our customers. We were impressed with the facilities at Hill Top and the quality of the refurbishment carried out by LCP. We’re looking forward to starting this new chapter in the firm’s history.”

LCP has spent £800,000 refurbishing the unit, which included new roof and cladding, new warehouse floor, new heating and lighting and complete redecoration throughout.

Andrew Preston, industrial property manager of LCP, said: “We’re pleased to support an established business expansion in to the West Midlands to begin a new service offering for its customers. Our policy of offering good quality units, continues to attract tenants.”

Situated within close proximity to Junction 1 of the M5, Hill Top Industrial Estate comprises industrial/warehouse units with ancillary office accommodation.

It is just 2½ miles from West Bromwich town centre and is close to junction 1 of the M5, which offers excellent transport links to the Midlands, south west of England, and Wales.

Existing tenants include Serene Furnishings Ltd, Gondrand UK Ltd and Diamond Box Ltd.
