IM Properties completes letting to Bunzl at Birch Coppice

Warwickshire-based developer, IM Properties has completed the letting of a 166,600 sq ft unit at its Birch Coppice Business Park near Tamworth.

The warehousing unit, which includes 10,000 sq ft of offices, has been let to international distribution and outsourcing specialist Bunzl on a 15 year lease.

This new letting will provide in excess of 50 new jobs alongside a relocation of some 100 staff from its current distribution centre in Kettering and telesales location in Tamworth. Staff from the telesales division of Bunzl’s sister company, Lockhart, will also operate from the new premises.

Max Harris, Operations and Regional Sales Director at Bunzl, said: “This new unit at Birch Coppice allows us to consolidate our existing NDC operation and telesales teams into one purpose-built facility. Birch Coppice is right in the centre of our consumer base in the Midlands and is in a great position that allows us easy access to the motorway networks.

“The site also offers us 20,000 sq ft of expansion space should it be required. Given the excellent relationship between ourselves and the team at IM Properties, we are well placed to meet the demands of an improving market.”

IM Properties was the first developer in the UK to begin speculative development of distribution units over 100,000 sq ft since the start of the economic downturn in 2008.

Kevin Ashfield, Senior Development Director, IM Properties, said: “We are very pleased to have attracted another major blue chip company such as Bunzl to Birch Coppice. This emphasises the quality of this rail-served location and also the strength of the local labour pool.

“This letting to Bunzl further reinforces IM Properties’ track record of delivering high quality, flexible industrial space in key strategic locations.”

The award-winning Birch Coppice Business Park is located close to the M42 in North Warwickshire and is home to a number of leading occupiers including Ocado, UPS, Volkswagen Group, Euro Car Parts and Roadways Container Logistics.

Situated in Dordon at Junction 10 of the M42, the 400 acre Birch Coppice Business Park is the West Midlands’ largest rail-served development site and one of the region’s biggest employment success stories.
