North Midland construction celebrates major milestones

Leading civil engineering and specialist contractor, North Midland Construction (NMC) has just celebrated two significant milestones, with chairman and chief executive Robert Moyle reaching 40 years service and NMC achieving 10 years as an accredited Investor in People.

Recently retired finance director and long-time colleague and friend, Mike Garratt presented Robert with three specially commissioned watercolours of the building to mark his four decades with the company.

Robert is joining an elite band of long serving NMC employees and Joe Harnett, foreman, and HGV driver John Ross were also rewarded for
40 years service and were each presented with a gold watch.

Robert said: “Today is a proud moment in NMC’s history with important milestones being reached by individuals and the business as a whole. The two dovetail together as it is our commitment to investing in people and developing their skills that makes them wish to stay with the group for so long, something of a rarity in today’s market.

“On a personal level it gives me a huge sense of satisfaction to be celebrating 40 years with the company. Family is at the heart of NMC and I took the reigns from my own father and have since worked with the team here to grow the business into the successful PLC it is today, employing over 1,000 people across the UK. Our congratulations also go to Joe and John on receiving their 40 years service awards and for their hard work and loyalty over all these years. This is particularly special too as John and I joined the company on the same day.”

Over 90 people joined the celebrations that took place at NMC’s headquarters in Huthwaite. John Walden from Investors in People, who has been assessing NMC for the past ten years attended the event and Hev Bingley, operations manager from EMB Excellence who hold the licence for Investors in People for Central England, presented NMC with its award for its decade as an accredited Investors in People business.
Hev commented: “To have maintained the Investors in People accreditation for 10 years is a fantastic achievement. Over that 10 years, the company has continued to build on its people strategies and has continually moved forward, so that not only have they maintained their accreditation, but in recognition of their investment in their people at all levels, have earned the Silver award.”
