Browne Jacobson improves ranking in Chambers UK

Law firm Browne Jacobson has improved its ranking as one of the UK’s leading law firms according to the latest edition of Chambers UK 2014, the independent legal directory that ranks law firms and lawyers in 70 specialist areas.

In the latest edition the firm increased its ranking status and is now rated first or second in a record 18 specialist areas and of these it is ranked first in 13, a record for the firm.

In addition it achieved a first time UK wide ranking for its Data Protection and Retail sector teams.

The firm also increased its UK wide ranking for its Local Government team, its Real Estate Litigation team in the West Midlands and its construction team in the East Midlands.

The latest edition of the directory also rated a record n umber of the firm’s lawyers as leading experts in their field. Of the 55 lawyers 34 are based in the firm’s Nottingham office, 16 in Birmingham, 4 in London and 1 in Exeter. Last year 49 of the firm’s lawyers were rated as ‘leading’.

A record number of the firm’s lawyers also appear under two categories including Tony Child, Barry Sully, Nick Parsons, Dominic Offord, Peter Ware, Richard Barlow, Simon Tait and new partner Rachel Lyne.

Furthermore, eight Browne Jacobson lawyers have joined the prestigious UK ranking for the first time. These include Oliver Pritchard (healthcare), Richard Nicholas (information technology), Ray Silverstein (employment), Craig Elder (PFI/PPP), Emma Hopkinson (Banking), Nick MacKenzie (education), Tim Claremont (construction) and Oliver Sweeney (defamation and reputation management).
