Long courtship evolves into merger

Two of Worcestershire best known business names have agreed a merger.

Redditch-based commercial property consultants John Truslove and residential property specialists A Victor Powell of Bromsgrove have forged a partnership but are to continue to trade under both names.

John Truslove said: “This is a merger that combines the best of both firms and enables us to offer a comprehensive service in north Worcestershire and north Warwickshire.

“While John Truslove is known principally for commercial and industrial agency, we have always carried out residential valuations and property management.

“Similarly, A Victor Powell is a firm recognised principally as a residential estate agent, but it too offers commercial property services.”

He said the decision to merge had grown out of a long history of mutual respect between both firms.

“It’s been a long courtship – we have always regarded David and Adrian Powell as honest and conscientious professional colleagues who gave good advice and good service, and it turns out they had a similar opinion of us!”

David Powell is to become a consultant in the new practice, while Adrian Powell will continue to run the Bromsgrove office within the new firm.

The John Truslove practice was established more than 32 years ago but it can trace a longer history through its acquisition of Redditch surveyors Neasom & White which was founded in 1856.

A Victor Powell was founded in 1946 by Victor Powell and his two sons David and Adrian have continued to run the family firm of chartered surveyors, auctioneers and estate agents.

Adrian Powell said: “This is a merger borne of mutual respect and we are very pleased to be teaming up with John, Ian and Ben to offer an enhanced service to our clients across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and the greater West Midlands.”
