Supermarket giant appoints Browne Jacobson to two major legal panels

Wm Morrison, one of the top four largest supermarket chains in the United Kingdom, has appointed Browne Jacobson to its property and regulatory legal panels following a full review of its legal advisors.

Browne Jacobson is one of only five law firm firms nationally to have been appointed on the supermarket’s flagship property panel which covers property litigation, planning, construction and construction litigation as well as general property matters. The appointment will see the firm advise the retailer on the national roll out of its convenience store programme. The other firms are DAC Beachcroft, Wragge & Co, Gordons and Eversheds.

The firm is also one of only six advisers to be appointed to the licensing and regulatory panel, advising the company on a range of issues including health and safety matters. The other firm on this panel include DWF, DAC Beachcroft, Blake Lapthorn, MacRoberts and Gosschalks.

Sarah Parkinson, commercial property partner and lead client partner, said:

“We are delighted to be working with Wm Morrisons. Our dedicated retail team has acted for a growing portfolio of retailers for many years from high end luxury through to volume retailers, and alongside our full service offering and in house expertise means we are well placed to understand their unique priorities and provide the expertise required by one of the country’s leading supermarket retailers.”

Last month Browne Jacobson was awarded Real Estate Law Firm of the Year at the inaugural Legal 500 awards.
