An engineering and construction company in Hampshire has been given the seal of approval by a national body for its mechanical engineering training scheme.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) accredited Southampton-based Trant Group in relation to an in-house scheme to bring on the next generation of first-class engineers.
The quality-assured training programme takes participants from graduates to chartered or incorporated engineer status over four years.
Each developing engineer is allocated a chartered engineering mentor who represents the IMechE in monitoring and guiding the engineers’ progress towards chartership via regular meetings, reports, presentations, training and assessments.
Engineers develop competencies in a variety of skills, such as knowledge and understanding, practical applications, leadership, communication and professional conduct.
Patrick Trant, the Trant Group chairman, said: “The development of our engineers is something we take very seriously, hence our structured and demanding in-house scheme.
“The accreditation by the IMechE is acknowledgement of our commitment to engage and inspire the next generation of first-class chartered and incorporated engineers within the Trant Group. Our clients expect nothing less.”
Trant’s engineering skills are utilised in a wide range of sectors in the UK and internationally, including the water, wastewater and energy-from-waste industries.
The independently-owned company employs 700 people.
