Automotive Trim Development sews up new unit in Coventry

Automotive Trim Developments Ltd (ATD) is expanding its operation in Coventry with the letting of an additional 14,000 sq ft industrial unit.

The company, which specialises in the design and manufacture of interior trim for the automotive, marine and aviation sectors, has taken Bay 1, 892 Charter Avenue on a five year lease at an annual rent of £55,000 from the landlord, a private individual.

Property consultants Bruton Knowles advised the landlord on the deal.

Established in 2000 by managing director Brett Townsend, ATD employs 70 people at its production facility in Coventry with an annual turnover of £6m. Its customers include JLR, Jankel, Prodrive, Esteban and KAB.

ATD has acquired the new unit adjacent to its existing premises in order to enhance its production capability.

Brett Townsend said: “This new unit will provide us with the capability to further develop new products in order to expand our operations within the transport industry.”

Geoff Solman, a senior surveyor at Bruton Knowles, said: “The UK’s automotive industry has turned its fortunes around and is enjoying something of a renaissance at the moment. Coventry has long been associated with the automotive sector and today remains home to a number of car manufacturers and companies in the supply chain.

“ATD is a great success story and we are pleased to have played a part in the company’s expansion by facilitating the deal on the new premises.”
