Accountants appoint their youngest director

A Wolverhampton man born and bred has been appointed the youngest director at the Midlands’ largest, independent family-owned accountancy firm.

Sean Emery, who lives in Bilston, is in charge of a 20-strong staff at Baldwins accountants’ new office in St David’s Court, Union Street, Wolverhampton.

The 29-year-old left St Thomas More Catholic School in Willenhall aged 18 and joined the apprenticeship scheme at BDO in Wolverhampton.

Sean passed his Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) exams before progressing onto the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification, which he completed in 2008.

He joined Baldwins’ office in Ashby de la Zouch in 2010 as a senior manager and has now been promoted to director at the company’s premises in Wolverhampton which opened in May.

“Baldwins is always keen to give young people an opportunity if they can see you are capable and hard-working,” Sean said. “It is this culture that has also led to us launching our young entrepreneurs award scheme Kick Start.

“It is great to work for a company that has such an ethos and I am excited about the challenges ahead.

“My new role is going well so far and that is due to the support I’ve had from the other staff at Wolverhampton and throughout the company.”

Sean has a diverse client portfolio and his job involves meeting clients, giving tax advice and leading audits and accounts in various sectors from construction to healthcare.

David Baldwin, co-owner of Baldwins accountants, added: “Sean fully deserves his promotion at Baldwins as we continue to build on our reputation of providing clients with the kind of personal advice and service from a local company which is generally given by larger accountancy firms.

“Sean has already shown great leadership and personal skills and I’m sure our new base in Wolverhampton will go from strength to strength under his directorship.”
