Harley Davidson acquires former KIA showroom

Following a number of abortive bids Rapleys has sold the former Kia Showroom on Wokingham Road, Earley.

Harley Davidson, the newest UK dealership, has taken the site to add to its existing 30-strong UK and Ireland dealer network.

The site has had a long history as a car dealership, with Loddon Bridge Motors running the site as a Morris dealership back in the 1960s. The site was redeveloped and most recently was a Kia dealership, the brand replacing MG Rover when they went into liquidation.

Mark Frostick, Associate in Rapleys’ Automotive & Roadside team commented: “We have had plenty of interest in the property but a couple of title issues have meant that any sale has been difficult to achieve. We are delighted to finally complete on the site and look forward to it being returned to its former glory. The sale of this along with the nearby Volvo dealership at Shepherds Hill (Currently being redeveloped for Marks & Spencer) shows that there is still strong demand for roadside properties in the area and we could have effectively sold the site many times over.”

Andy Guntrip of Bond Woodhouse who acted on behalf of the purchaser commented: “After searching for some time for a site in three locations in the Thames Valley area, we found this site which our clients thought would be perfect for their new Harley-Davidson showroom. While the site requires a lot of work, the end result should be fantastic and will provide Harley-Davidson UK with a building in a prominent location close to Reading.”
