DJM_04A leading national manufacturer, based in Port Talbot, has acquired a Swansea-based instrumentation business.

Rototherm Group, a leading UK manufacturer of instrumentation for measuring temperature, pressure, level, density and flow, has acquired IRPCO Instrumentation – a process and control instrumentation business.

The deal will enhance Port Talbot-headquartered Rototherm’s service to current customers, by building upon its core services, as well as allowing IRPCO customers access to its portfolio.

IRPCO Instrumentation, established in 1987, was bought for an undisclosed fee and continues to provide calibration and repair services as part of the Rototherm Group.

Douglas-Jones Mercer, a Swansea-based corporate law firm advised on the acquisition.

Oliver Conger, managing director of the Rototherm Group, added:

“The acquisition is in line with our growth strategy to build upon our core product and service offering within the temperature, pressure and flow segments and provide ourcustomers a total solution.

“Importantly the acquisition enhances our market position and profile both in Wales and southwest England, where we continue to see new customers realising the benefits of having a global instrumentation manufacturer and supplier on their doorstep.”

Former IRPCO director, Paul Williams, said:

“This is an ideal opportunity for growth for both companies. For Rototherm, it provides the opportunity to enhance the range of products and services offered to customers, together with access to new clients. For IRPCO customers this deal means they can work with a local manufacturer of high-specification instrumentation products.”

Directly advising on the deal, Sheraz Akram, Associate Solicitor at DJM, said:

“I am extremely pleased to have assisted Paul and his colleagues on this transaction. Rototherm has ambitious growth plans, so this is an important strategic step for both firms.”
