Birmingham businesses in the race to help local charities

The Mercantile Club Bull Run supporters 2012More than 80 companies have signed up for what is set to be one of the biggest charity events of the year.

The Mercantile Club Bull Run is in its fifth year and keeps getting bigger and better as businesses from across the region join forces to raise thousands for local charities.

The annual event has attracted hundreds of business professionals over the last four years and organisers are hoping to attract 200 runners to get involved in one
of the most entertaining and fun business events in Birmingham.

The famous Mercantile Club Bull Run will take place on Thursday 4 July, starting at
5pm to celebrate the festival of San Fermin. The fun-filled evening includes prize
draws, auctions and some special surprises throughout the night. There will also be a
special prize for the best dressed ‘Yankee’ following this year’s theme
of American Independence Day.

Last year the Mercantile Club Bull Run raised £5000 for Birmingham Children’s
Hospital and Kerrang Cash for Kids. The funds were used to provide grants to
support community projects and children’s charities supporting sick and vulnerable
children.
This year the Mercantile Club Bull Run supporters are hoping to smash the target
and raise over £7000 to support – Lisieux Trust and Kerrang Cash for Kids. Lisieux
Trust provides emotional and practical support for people living with disabilities and
Cash for Kids provides grants to support children across the West Midlands region
who are sick, vulnerable or suffering from life-limiting illnesses.

Bart Dalton, Event Director for the Mercantile Club Bull Run said:
“This is one of Birmingham’s liveliest business events and it gets better every
year. It’s a good opportunity to build your business connections while raising
lots of money to support two important causes. It’s great to know the
difference the money we have raised in the past has made. We just want to
keep building on that to reach out and help more people. .”
