Major new depot for City Link at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol

UK-based express delivery company, City Link, has recently acquired a new regional distribution centre of 66,753 sq ft on 4.84 acres adjacent to The Mall regional shopping centre, at Jc 17 M5, Bristol. The parcels company has taken the building from owners Prudential and Capital Shopping Centres, on a new ten year lease, at an undisclosed rent.

The new facility will equip City Link to expand its operations locally and to continue to improve and enhance its value added services for existing and future customers.

Employees from the existing City Link depot in Bristol have been relocated into the new depot, which has undergone a major refurbishment.

The move had proven essential due to increased demand from a growing customer base within the region.

Paul Hobbs, industrial agency director at GVA, who acted for Prudential and Capital Shopping Centres, comments, “Against an uncertain economic backdrop, the market for existing good quality distribution space in the south west has held up comparatively well.

“In certain size ranges there is very limited standing stock, and that is now really halting some companies’ aspirations to expand. City Link operates in a noted growth sector; home delivery and retailer support. A further local example of this has been Ocado taking 30,000 sq ft at Avonmouth, and on a wider scale, Amazon.co.uk committing to over 1 million sq ft in the UK over the last 12 months.”’

The Bristol office of GVA acted for Prudential and Capital Shopping Centres with joint agent HTC. City Link was represented by Meyrick Commercial.
