MCS Group scores warehouse development hat-trick

MCS Group will deliver Click Letchworth, a new zero carbon industrial development brought forward by developer Wrenbridge.

Leading main contractor MCS Group has secured a trio of new industrial and logistics contracts, reinforcing its growing presence in the UK’s mid-box and logistics development sector.

The contractor has been appointed by developer Wrenbridge to deliver two schemes in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, and Reading, Berkshire, alongside a further project in Walsall, in the West Midlands, for developer Erdgard.

In Hertfordshire, MCS Group will deliver Click Letchworth, a new zero carbon industrial development brought forward by Wrenbridge in partnership with Bridges Fund Management. The scheme will comprise three units ranging from 26,522 sq ft to 61,677 sq ft, designed to meet the requirements of modern occupiers with a strong emphasis on sustainability.

MCS Group will undertake the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of three warehouse units totalling 132,700 sq ft. The scheme is targeting BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A+ ratings, with construction commencing this month (April) and completion scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

In Reading, Warwick-based MCS Group has also been appointed to deliver Focus, a 229,367 sq ft Grade A industrial and logistics scheme for Wrenbridge in partnership with Fiera Real Estate. The development will comprise six units ranging from 13,705 sq ft to 90,118 sq ft, offering high-quality, flexible accommodation.

Separately, MCS Group is set to begin construction at Central Point, Willenhall Road, Walsall, after Erdgard secured detailed planning consent. The speculative development will deliver 93,110 sq ft across six units ranging from 5,880 sq ft to 26,236 sq ft, built to BREEAM Very Good and EPC A standards. Site clearance is already underway, with construction due to commence in May and completion targeted for early 2027.

Rob Townsend, joint managing director at MCS Group, said: “Securing three high-quality schemes in quick succession is a fantastic result for the business and reflects the strength of our relationships with leading developers. These projects showcase our ability to deliver sustainable, best-in-class industrial space across a range of locations, and we look forward to progressing works on site.”

John McHale, director at Wrenbridge, said: “We’re pleased to be working with MCS Group on both our Letchworth and Reading schemes. Their track record in delivering high-quality industrial developments and their collaborative approach make them an ideal partner as we bring forward these important projects.”

Gareth Williams, director at Erdgard, said: “There is a lack of good quality new stock in the Walsall area and in the Black Country generally, so Central Point will deliver much needed Grade A space. A commitment to speculative development is a demonstration of confidence in this location and market, and we look forward to early occupier discussions.”

MCS Group, founded in 2003, is an award-winning construction contractor delivering large scale industrial projects for leading developers, new build self storage and critical infrastructure units for key utility providers.
