GMI Construction Group has reached a major milestone in its ongoing work at MIRA Technology Park (MTP) with the signing of the steel framework for Plot 44 – its second significant development at the site.

The 34,000 sq. ft. high-specification R&D facility, located close to Nuneaton, Warwickshire, comprises two units featuring integrated office and workshop space. Purpose-built to support the automotive and mobility sectors, the facility is designed to accelerate research, development and innovation within this globally significant cluster.

The scheme is being delivered by GMI for Evans Randall Investors and Horiba MIRA, and development managers Swanvale Developments who are leading the strategic expansion of MTP. Europe’s largest and fastest-growing automotive R&D hub, MTP is home to more than 35 companies, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Bosch, Jaguar Land Rover, and Polestar.

Situated adjacent to the world-renowned HORIBA MIRA proving ground and test facilities, Plot 44 will meet the evolving needs of mobility and clean technology businesses, further enhancing the park’s reputation as a premier destination for investment and innovation.

To mark the progress on the structural phase, GMI hosted a steel signing event attended by key stakeholders.

This latest scheme follows GMI’s successful delivery of Plot 9 – a £16 million development completed earlier this year five weeks ahead of schedule. That project delivered two 36,000 sq. ft. units with CAT A office and workshop fit outs, along with major infrastructure enhancements.

Adam Taylor, GMI’s Regional Director for the Midlands, said: “This steel signing marks a key stage in what is set to be another high-quality, technically complex development at MIRA Tech Park. Plot 44 is being constructed to meet the highest standards, offering integrated workspaces that enable companies to innovate and grow. It’s a privilege to contribute to the expansion of this world-class mobility hub once again.”

Andy Macdonald, Managing Director of Swanvale Developments, added: “The steel signing for Plot 44 is another great milestone in the continuing development of MIRA Tech Park. It’s always rewarding to see a project move from plans to steel, and this recent development builds on the momentum following the successful delivery of Plot 9 earlier this year with GMI Construction. Each new development we bring forward fuels the continued rapid growth of the MIRA technology cluster, and reinforces MIRA Tech Park’s position as a world-class destination for engineering innovation.”
