Anglo Holt appoints new director

Anglo Holt Construction has appointed a new director as it prepares for the departure of Tony Wehby, who is heading east in search of fresh challenges.

Alf Pople steps up to become projects director from his current role as operations manager at the West Bromwich-based construction company.

Managing director Andy Elwell has taken the opportunity to redefine the roles of the existing board members. Carl Sheppard is now technical director and Andrew Hall’s role is redefined as contracts director, while Simon Garland keeps the position of financial director.

Andy said: “Of course we’re sad to see Tony go. He has been a great servant to Anglo Holt. His desire to work in the Middle East will see him embark on a new and exciting challenge and I am sure everyone at the company will join me in wishing him every success as he leaves to explore other opportunities.

“As one door closes another opens, and I am delighted to be able to welcome Alf Pople to the position of projects director. He brings great experience and enthusiasm to the position and I know he will be an excellent addition to the team as we drive the company forward.”

Alf Pople, from Burntwood, Staffordshire, joined the company as a senior site manager in 1994 and has progressed through the ranks from projects manager to operations manager during that time.

He said: “Tony’s a hard act to follow but I am excited at the challenges that lie ahead and I’m looking forward to working with Andy, Carl, Andrew and Simon to steer Anglo Holt to even greater success. There’s no disguising the fact that the current climate is tough for construction companies but we are winning some excellent contracts right across the UK and I am confident we can continue to grow in line with our aspirations.”
